Martin Taylor is a North-west based pianist/vocalist with 25 years of live experience. Classically trained at the former Bolton School of Music but with an eclectic taste in music, Martin has worked with numerous bands/singers as well as a soloist, playing a wide variety of genres from original to covers.
He became well-known for his late-night weekend residency at Bolton’s Barristers Bar which ran for over 5 years, firmly establishing him as a versatile and improvisational solo piano act with countless songs and styles of playing that suited the moment…..”Abba to Zappa” and everything inbetween! Rock, blues, boogie-woogie, classical, jazz, standards, soul, pop, punk, progressive and indie. Anything goes!
He has performed at many of the leading venues, hotels, pubs and restaurants throughout the North West such as Manchester’s Hilton, Midland Hotel, Marriott, Lowry Hotel & Theatre, The Place, Lounge 10, Rosso, Zinc Bar & Grill, Isis, Henighans and Old Trafford Football Club. Some of the noted wedding venues have included Samlesbury Hall, Bartle Hall, Last Drop Village, Bolton School, Stanley House, Rivington Barn, Mottram Hall, Seiont Manor, Crabwall Manor and Haigh Hall.
For the 2009 UEFA Champions League final, Martin performed piano for Manchester United’s after-match party held at the Piazza della Repubblica in Rome.
Recent piano work has included Bolton University, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Cheshire based “New Moon” pub kitchen chain.
He has also been involved in theatre production, studio session work, accompaniment, composition and songwriting collaborations.
